Membership Options at EBC

Eildon Boat Club has a number of membership choices to suit new Members. Additional options for Existing Members are also detailed below.

The information shown below is a summary of the EBC Board Policy decisions made in reference to the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association of Eildon Boat Club.

New Members

As a new member at Eildon Boat Club you have the opportunity to join in one of the following membership categories:

Details of each membership are shown below and should you have any queries about any of the membership categories, please feel free to contact the Club during office hours.

Some Important Notes for prospective Members:

  • Applicants must be over 18 years of age.
  • Eildon Boat Club is a non-profit organisation where memberships are not transferable.

Full Membership

The Benefits

A Full Membership enables you to enjoy all the amenities the Club provides and in addition, you are able to enter into agreements to moor a vessel in the harbour and store vessels in a Club shed.

As a Full Member we encourage you to attend our General Meetings and vote on the decisions that will affect the future of your Club.

Fees and Charges

The new Full Member fees and charges are made up of:

  • Joining Fee - this is a once only payment.
  • Annual Membership Subscription Fees - this fee is paid by all Members and these funds are used to operate and maintain the marinas, clubhouse and the grounds. This fee is an ongoing annual charge.
  • Club Key - provides boom gate access to the Club and charge account facilities at the restaurant, bar, fuel barge, and kiosk. Club Keys must not be used by friends or family who are not eligible for Family Membership.

Social Membership

The Benefits

A Social Membership will provide you with the use of all of the Club's facilities with the exception of mooring pens and dry storage sheds.

A Social Member does not have voting rights at General Meetings, however, you are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

Family Membership

The Benefits

Your spouse or full-time partner and children under the age of 18 are automatically included as Family Members with your Full of Social Membership. This gives them independent access to Club facilities.

Young adults between 18-30 years of age must apply for a Family Membership if they want to access the Club facilities on their own.

There are no additional Membership fees for a Family Membership; and they can apply to have their own Club Key. Additional Club Keys are linked to the Head Member account and the Head Member is responsible for all accrued charges. Additional Club Key charges apply.

A Family Member upon reaching the 30 years of age will be entitled to apply for admission for Full or Social Membership.

How to Apply for Membership

Once you have decided on the membership category which bests suits your needs, please complete the relevant applicable application form below and return a signed copy with your references and payment by mail to Eildon Boat Club, PO Box 11, Eildon, Victoria 3713.

What You Need To Include In Your Application

  1. To be returned with your application form are five references which includes:
    • three personal references
    • one reference from your Proposer and one reference from your Seconder. The Proposer and Seconder must be Full Members of the Club. If you do not know any Members of the Club, please leave this section blank and the Membership Committee will complete these details after the New Members meeting
  2. Your joining fees and annual subscription fees should be returned with your application. Upon receipt, an Interim Membership* will be made available to you.

How Your Application Is Processed

Your name and address is posted on the notice board at the Eildon Boat Club for a period of 21 days prior to the next Board meeting. Acceptance of your membership is at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

*Interim Membership

Once your application and fees have been received, the Manager will provide you with a 60 day Interim Membership. This will allow you to enjoy the facilities at the Club pending the acceptance of your application by the Board of Directors.

Under the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association of Eildon Boat Club, the following additional Member categories are recognized:

Non-Boating Membership

Should you no longer own a boat; a Non-Boating Membership will enable you to continue your association with the Club at a reduced rate providing you meet the following criteria:

  • You have held a Full Membership for a minimum of 10 consecutive years
  • You no longer require Mooring or Storage rights

A Non-Boating Member does not have voting rights at General Meetings however, you are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

50% Full Membership

A reduction of 50% in Full Member fees is available to Full Members who have been a Member of the Club for a minimum of 15 years and who has reached 65 years of age.

Honorary Membership

The Board of Directors has at its discretion, the ability to award Honorary Membership. Admission criteria are contained in the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association.

Life Membership

A Full Member may recommend to the Board the election of a Full Member to Life Membership of the Club. The Nominee shall have been a Full Member for a continuous period of 15 years and have demonstrated a sustained and meaningful contribution to the Club and its Members. Admission criteria are contained in the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association.
